B.Sc. Finance

Candidates are admitted into the degree programmes in any of the following two ways: The University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE).

UTME Entry Mode

In addition to UTME requirements, the prospective candidate for a 4-year degree programme is expected to have obtained credit passes in five Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) subjects or its equivalent including English Language, Mathematics and Economics and any of the following subjects: Geography, Government, Financial Accounting, Commerce, and at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry Mode

  • In addition to O’Level requirements stipulated above, applicants should possess at least A ‘Level passes in relevant subjects.
  • ND in relevant discipline with at least upper credit grade in addition to the 5 (five) credit passes as stated under UTME entry mode above.
  • HND in relevant discipline with at least upper credit in addition to 5 (Five) credit passes as stated above.

M.Sc. Finance

Candidates are required to possess the following:

  1. Five ‘O’ Level Credits passes or its equivalent including English Language and Mathematics, Economics and any other two from Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics SSCE or its equivalent.
  2. Bachelor degree with at least Second-Class Lower Division in Banking and/or Finance, or other related areas such as Accounting and Economics from University of Ilorin or any other recognized University.
  3. All prospective candidates must take qualifying examination conducted by the Department of Finance of the University and pass at a minimum score of 55 percent (55%). Only graduates of University of Ilorin who obtained First Class or Second-Class Upper Division are exempted from writing the qualifying examination. However, the latter category of candidates are required to present themselves for interview sessions to be conducted by the Department and score a minimum of 55 percent (55%).

Ph.D. Finance

The candidates are required to possess the following:

  1. Five “O” level credits passes or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics Economics and any other two from Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics.
  2. M.Phil degree in Banking and / or Finance from University of Ilorin or any other recognized university.
  3. M.Sc. degree in Banking and / or Finance with at least an average of B grade (60%) from the University of Ilorin.
  4. Candidates must sit for qualifying examination and score 60 percent (60%) in the qualifying examination.
